This Berlin site was set up after the success of it’s sister hotels in London and New York and this hotel meets members club has previously been used as as a centre for the Hitler Youth and a Communist archival house. This caused a split of the critics when it was initially launched. Some people felt uncomfortable that such an elitist type of club was being set up in such a building that caused such hurt in the past. There is also an opinion that that the building is a mismatch with Berlin’s historically unkempt and egalitarian vibe. Everyone else believes that for this eight storey building the truth lies somewhere in between.
Located in the fashionable Mitte district, Soho House ‘s main function is as a private members club but it also has 40  stylishly decorated rooms for guests in a range  of sizes. Visitors can chooses from the “tiny” to the “extra large” room size which come complete with some of the biggest beds you can find in the city. If you want a room with a view, go for one of the ones at the front of the hotel but do bear in mind that these tend to have slanted beams and a slight attic feel to them.

The communal areas are tilled with traditional black and white squares and exposed beams all adding to the futuristic feel of the space. The quirkiness of the rooms flows into the hallways and don’t be surprised to come across the odd ornamental suitcase and hat boxes.
If you’re lucky enough, you might even get a chance to see inside the private cinema which seats 36, a quaint library and a great courtyard which is perfect for a warm summers evening.
